Card Services for Credit Unions® Announces Founder of Bank Transfer Day as Guest Speaker
Tampa, FL (January 24, 2012) – Card Services for Credit Unions® is proud to announce Kristen Christian, Founder of Bank Transfer Day, as a guest speaker at both the upcoming Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) on March 18-22, and the Card Services for Credit Unions® Annual Conference to be held April 25-29, 2011. In every industry there are unique individuals whose ideas lay the foundation for the future. Christian is one such individual.

Christian is a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur and the Founder of Bank Transfer Day – the driving force behind the movement that is shifting banking and financial philosophies across the country. With a perspective based in activism, she was raised with an understanding that cooperation and respect are crucial for communities to thrive. From serving their members to serving the communities they are a part of, credit unions follow a similar path. Christian’s successful endeavors recently granted her “Story of the Year” honors by Credit Union Journal.

With rallies scheduled to celebrate the November 5 deadline for transferring funds, CUNA was estimating in the four weeks leading up to the Day, that more than 440,000 Americans shifted their financial relationships from banks to credit unions. As initiatives such as Bank Transfer Day gain more public participation, the credit union industry gains the opportunity to educate and serve new members.

“Card Services for Credit Unions® is proud to bring in Kristen to speak at GAC and our annual conference.  Her story is truly inspiring and demonstrates exceptional leadership and motivation on how credit unions can grow their membership,” said Robert Hackney, President of Card Services for Credit Unions®.
The GAC, scheduled for March 18-22 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, includes informational sessions to help credit unions effectively deliver the credit union message, make the most of Capitol Hill visits, and communicate properly with the media. And members registered for the Card Services for Credit Unions® Annual Conference in April, held at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, will learn to boost card programs through strategic planning, kindle creativity with an exciting line-up of inspirational speakers, and explore new innovations in card payment solutions.
