University of Illinois Employees Credit Union Wins Alumni Endorsement

 
Tampa, FL (January 25, 2012) – As competition in the payments arena has heated up, the University of Illinois Employees Credit Union (UIECU) has up’d their game to provide a top-in-class credit card offering that better serves their member needs. The enhanced offerings were timely in complimenting the recently acquired University of Illinois Alumni Association affinity credit card program and UIECU partnership.

After a lengthy RFP process, the UIECU earned the opportunity to serve the payments needs of more than 650,000 active alumni. “With the help of our CSCU consultant, we met all our ambitious corporate goals including saving current card-holders more than $500,000 in interest and fee reduction,” said Susan Toalson, Director of Affinity Services at UIECU. “The personalized and sincere relationship between a member and the credit union is what differentiated us from the Associations’ current partner and ultimately awarded UIECU with the Associations’ trust.”

Only 18 months old, the partnership between the UIAA and UIECU is already considered a success. Since August of 2010 the UIECU has awarded $2.5 million in additional loans, added 2,000 new members and 4,000 new affinity cardholders to their portfolio. Unique products such as ScoreCard, a rewards program offered by CSCU, are designed to enhance cardholder value as well as drive loyalty to the UIECU card. The ScoreCard program allows UIECU to increase transactions, market share and profitability, all while doing things differently.

“We wanted to bring the best available offerings to our alumni association and through the credit union, we knew we had a solid offering that would meet the alumni’s love for their Alma mater and their financial needs,” said Joe Rank, Vice President of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. “Not only did a partnership with UIECU make fiscal sense, their dedication to our university helped provide a sense of pride and community not often found in the financial world.”
